Why This Works as a Joint Trip
The Emerald Coast is unusual because two very different weekends sit twenty minutes apart. Destin brings the harbor, the boats, and the loud nights. 30A brings walkable beach towns, better food, and porches.
That split is exactly what a joint bach party needs. You get shared anchors that everyone does together, and you get natural separation when one group wants a fishing charter and the other wants a beach picnic.
The plan below assumes you rent one large house on 30A and drive into Destin twice. If your group is over eighteen people, book two houses on the same street rather than one enormous one.
Day 1: Friday
Afternoon: Arrive and Set the Tone
Most groups land at Northwest Florida Beaches International in Panama City, which is about 45 minutes to eastern 30A, or Destin-Fort Walton Beach, which is closer to 30 minutes to the western end. Rent at least two large SUVs.
Get to the house, drop bags, and go straight to the beach. Do not start with a restaurant, because half the group will still be in transit.
Stock the house on the way in. One grocery run on Friday saves three convenience store runs later.
Evening: Dinner in Grayton Beach
Start the weekend at Bud and Alley's in Seaside if you want the postcard version. It has been on the Gulf since 1986 and it is one of the only truly Gulf-front restaurants on 30A, with a rooftop bar where a bell is rung at sunset.
Entrees at dinner run $30 to $45. The bar menu on the roof deck is the better value and the better setting for a group.
The alternative is The Red Bar in Grayton Beach, which has live jazz most nights and a room that makes a group of twenty feel normal. It is walk-in only, so send two people ahead at 5:30pm.
Late: Back to the House
Keep Friday night at the house. You have two big days ahead and a Friday bar night in Destin will cost you Saturday.
Day 2: Saturday
Morning: Coffee and Split
Send someone to Black Bear Bread Co. in Grayton Beach or Seaside for a large order. It is the best breakfast on 30A and it is faster to bring it back than to seat twenty people.
This is your first split-off block. It works well because it is short and low stakes. One group does a beach walk, the other does a bike ride through Seaside and Watercolor.
Afternoon: Crab Island, Together
This is the anchor of the weekend and the one thing both groups will talk about afterward. Crab Island is a shallow sandbar just north of the Destin bridge where boats raft up in waist-deep water.
Book pontoons through Original Crab Island or Destin Vacation Boat Rentals. Half-day rentals run $225 to $375 depending on the season and full days run $375 to $575, with most pontoons capped at 12 or 13 passengers.
For a group of 24 that means two boats. Two half-day pontoons at $375 each works out to roughly $31 per person, which is the best value line item of the entire weekend.
If nobody in your group wants to captain, Crab Island Luxury Adventures runs captained 30A charters starting around $999 for a full day. Split across twelve that is about $83 each and nobody has to dock a boat.
Boat day rules that matter: Cans only, no glass. Bring twice the water you planned. Anchor early, because the good spots fill by noon on a summer Saturday.
Evening: Destin Harbor
You are already in Destin, so stay. Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House on Harbor Boulevard is the strongest group dinner on the harbor, with Southern seafood, a big deck, and live music.
Harbor Docks is the local pick and the better value. It has been family-run since 1979, sources from its own wholesale seafood market, and the sushi is genuinely good.
After dinner, walk to AJ's Seafood and Oyster Bar. It has been on the harbor since 1984, it is walk-in only with no reservations, and the upstairs deck turns into the loudest good time in Destin after 9pm.
Line up rides home before you go out. Rideshare from Destin back to 30A gets expensive and slow after midnight, so book a shuttle or a van in advance for a group this size.
Day 3: Sunday
Morning: Slow Start
Nobody is doing anything before 10am and pretending otherwise ruins the last day. Set a group breakfast at the house for 10:30am and let people surface.
Afternoon: The Second Split
This is where the two parties do their own thing properly. The bachelor side typically takes a fishing charter out of Destin Harbor, which runs four to six hours and books solid in summer.
The bachelorette side usually takes a beach picnic setup, a private yoga or pilates session, or a paddleboard block on the Choctawhatchee Bay side where the water is flat.
Both options run three to five hours, which means you land back together for dinner without anyone waiting around.
Evening: One Last Dinner on 30A
Close the weekend back on 30A rather than in Destin. Book a private chef at the house if your group is over sixteen, because a chef for twenty people often costs less per head than a $60 entree each.
If you would rather go out, book a 30A dinner reservation one to two weeks ahead. Many 30A restaurants are walk-in only with 45 to 90 minute waits on summer weekend nights, and a party of twenty is not getting seated on a whim.
End with a beach bonfire. Permitted bonfire companies set up chairs, wood, and s'mores on the sand in South Walton, and it is the cheapest good last night you can plan.

Planning Notes
- Book the house first. Everything else on 30A is available closer in, but the good houses go six to nine months out for summer.
- Two split-off blocks is the right number for a joint trip. Any more and it stops feeling like one weekend.
- Crab Island is a summer thing. If you are going in April or October the water is cold, so make the charter a sunset cruise instead.
- The bride and groom should not be on separate boats on Saturday. Save the separation for Sunday.
- Assign one person per group as the money collector before the trip, not during it.
- Destin is 20 to 30 minutes from most 30A addresses, but summer traffic on 98 can double that. Leave earlier than feels necessary.
