Why West Sedona

Sedona splits into two personalities along 89A. Uptown is the postcard strip of crystal shops and tour jeeps. West Sedona, stretching a few miles down the highway, is where people actually live, and where most of the restaurants locals recommend happen to be.

For a bachelorette group, the west side means shorter waits, easier parking, better sunset access, and most of the big vacation rentals. You will still do Uptown for an afternoon. You just will not want to sleep there.

Getting Oriented

West Sedona runs along State Route 89A west of the Y intersection, with red rock views the entire way. Everything on this list sits on or just off 89A, so one designated driver or a short rideshare covers the whole evening. Trailheads like Thunder Mountain and Sugarloaf start right out of the neighborhoods.

Eat

Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill is the special-occasion dinner on this side of town. Chef Lisa Dahl's Argentinian-leaning menu comes off a woodfire grill, and the wraparound patio faces straight into the red rocks. Book two to three weeks ahead and ask for a sunset-hour table. Pisa Lisa, also from Dahl, is the casual counterweight: wood-fired pizzas and a lively room that takes big groups without drama. It is the right first-night dinner when everyone lands at different times.

The Coffee Pot Restaurant is the morning institution, famous for its menu of 101 omelettes. It is cash-friendly, fast, and exactly what a table of eight needs before a hike.

Drink

Vino di Sedona is the wine-bar hangout, with a shaded patio, a long by-the-glass list, and live music most evenings. It fills the gap between hike and dinner perfectly.

Sedona Beer Company covers the group's beer contingent with house brews and a patio, a short hop down 89A. Sedona is not a late-night town, so treat these as the evening, not the pregame.

Do

Sunset at Airport Mesa is the classic, and the overlook sits on the hill directly above West Sedona. Go 45 minutes before sunset to claim a spot.

For an easy group hike, Sugarloaf Loop and the Teacup Trail connections leave from a neighborhood trailhead and deliver full red rock views in under two hours. Fairy dust optional: the west side is also home to several of the aura photographers and crystal experiences the bride's group chat has been joking about. Lean in.

Where to Stay

West Sedona has the largest concentration of group-sized vacation rentals in town, many with red rock views from the hot tub. Staying here puts you ten minutes from Uptown, five from the trailheads, and walking or short-ride distance from every spot above. Book winter and spring weekends several months out.
