Why Sedona Works for a Bachelorette

Sedona is what you pick when your bride wants a weekend that does not revolve around shots and pedal taverns. Red rocks, vortex hikes, Pink Jeep tours, wine tastings in the Verde Valley, and a spa day that your group will still be talking about a year later.

It is two hours from Phoenix Sky Harbor. Most groups fly into Phoenix and road trip up in an SUV.

Day 1: Arrive and Ease In

Morning

Fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor and rent an SUV or two. Grab coffee and breakfast burritos at Matt''s Big Breakfast in Phoenix before the drive up.

Afternoon

Check into your rental. Uptown and West Sedona have the best access to hiking trails. Unpack, change into something you can hike in, and head to Bell Rock Pathway for an easy hour-long loop. It is the perfect intro to the red rocks and does not require anyone to be a serious hiker.

Evening

Dinner at Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill. The patio at sunset is the photo your group will use for the trip recap. Request the patio when you book.

Order this: Wood-grilled octopus, $24, and the rack of lamb, $52

After dinner, walk Uptown and grab a nightcap at Oak Creek Brewing Co.

Day 2: Adventure and Wine

Morning

Book a Pink Jeep Tour at 8am. The Broken Arrow tour is the classic. Two hours in a pink Jeep bouncing across red rock terrain is a top-three bachelorette activity. Tours start at $139 per person.

"Our driver was hilarious and the views were insane. Everyone in our group of 8 said it was the highlight of the weekend." Google Review

Afternoon

Grab lunch in Uptown Sedona. The Hudson has a patio overlooking the red rocks and a solid burger.

At 1pm, head to the Verde Valley for wine tasting. Book a driver through Wine Tours of Sedona, around $125 per person, and hit 3 to 4 wineries in an afternoon. Page Springs Cellars, Javelina Leap, and Oak Creek Vineyards are the standard circuit.

"The winery hop was so much better than expected. Arizona wine genuinely surprised the whole group." Reddit

Evening

Back to the house. Order pizza from Pisa Lisa if no one wants to move, or head out to Elote Cafe if your group still has energy. Elote is booked out for weeks, so get reservations the minute you plan the trip.

Order this at Elote: The elote corn appetizer, $11, and the lamb adovada, $36

Day 3: Wellness and Send-Off

Morning

Sunrise hike at Cathedral Rock. It is steep but short, and the photo you get at the saddle is worth the burn. Bring water and wear real shoes.

Afternoon

Spa day at Mii Amo at Enchantment Resort or L''Auberge de Sedona. Group packages run $200 to $400 per person for a half day. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

If spa is not your vibe, do a group sound bath at Innerbloom Sound Healing. It is $50 per person and a genuinely different experience.

Evening

Farewell dinner at Cucina Rustica. The dining room is gorgeous, the Italian is legitimately great, and the wine list does the Verde Valley justice.

Order this: Gnocchi Bolognese, $28, and the branzino, $42

Planning Tips

  • Book Elote Cafe the day your trip is confirmed. It is the single hardest reservation in Sedona.
  • Rent a house with a hot tub. Red rock views from a hot tub is the assignment.
  • Bring layers. Sedona is 4,300 feet elevation and the nights get cold even in summer.
  • Do not drink and drive after wine tastings. Use Wine Tours of Sedona or a private driver.
  • If your bride wants the vortex energy experience, book a guided tour. The DIY version is confusing.
