A 3-Day Napa Valley Bachelorette Itinerary That Actually Paces You
Quick Summary
Group sizeBest for 6 to 12
Budget$650 to $1,200 per person for 3 nights (excl. flights)
Book firstTransportation, any tasting at Castello di Amorosa, Saturday dinner

Before You Go

Fly into Oakland (OAK) or San Francisco (SFO). OAK is about 60 minutes to downtown Napa, SFO is 70 to 90 depending on traffic. Rent a home in Yountville or St. Helena for the best walkability.

Do not try to drive between wineries yourselves. Hire a driver for at least the 2 tasting days. Most local companies charge $120 to $180 per hour with a 5-hour minimum for a Mercedes Sprinter van.

Day 1: Arrival and Ease In

Afternoon

Check in, unpack, and head to Oxbow Public Market in downtown Napa for a late lunch. Hog Island Oyster Co for a dozen oysters ($36), Kara''s Cupcakes for the bride, and a first group Aperol spritz.

Evening

Start with a casual dinner in Yountville. Bistro Jeanty does classic French and their tomato bisque in puff pastry ($16) is a bucket-list bowl of soup. Coq au vin runs $42.

After dinner walk to the V Wine Cellar or back to your rental for a champagne toast. Early night if you can swing it. Tomorrow is the big day.

Budget for Day 1

About $140 to $180 per person including dinner, lunch, and travel from the airport.

Day 2: The Winery Day

Morning

Driver picks you up at 10am. Start at Domaine Carneros for sparkling wine on the terrace ($60 per person). The chateau and fountain photograph better than any other stop of the trip.

Afternoon

Head to Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga for the full castle tour and tasting ($90 per person, book at least 3 weeks out). Grab lunch at The Model Bakery in St. Helena on the way back (English muffin breakfast sandwiches are legendary, $14).

Third and final stop: Frog''s Leap in Rutherford. Casual tasting on the porch ($75 per person), a friendly dog that shows up, and the calmest energy of any tasting on this itinerary. Exactly what your group needs at 3:30pm.

Evening

Back to the rental by 6. Pizzas and a group shower break. Dinner at Goose and Gander in St. Helena with the bar burger ($24) and a last round of cocktails in the garden patio.

Budget for Day 2

About $325 to $400 per person including driver tip, tastings, meals.

Day 3: Slow Down and Go Home

Morning

Sleep in. Walk or drive to Bouchon Bakery in Yountville for pastries ($8 to $14 per person).

Afternoon

Pick one thing: a spa morning at Meadowood or Silverado, OR one last tasting at Ashes and Diamonds in Napa (designed by the guy who did the Mondrian, $60 tasting, the whole thing feels like a Palm Springs vacation).

Lunch at Lucy Restaurant and Bar at Bardessono for the final group meal. The burrata and heirloom tomato ($22) is the move.

Evening

Fly out that night or the next morning. Most groups find that a red-eye Sunday is brutal with 3 days of wine in the system. Monday morning flight is kinder.

Budget for Day 3

About $180 to $260 per person depending on spa vs. tasting.

Total Trip Budget

CategoryPer person
Lodging (3 nights, shared)$220 to $380
Driver (split across group)$80 to $140
Tastings$175 to $225
Meals$175 to $250
Rideshare and extras$50 to $85
Total$700 to $1,080

Planning Tips

  • Most wineries in Napa are appointment only. Book tastings 4 to 6 weeks ahead, especially any with food pairings.
  • 3 wineries in a day is the ceiling for a group that wants to remember the trip. Do not try for 4.
  • Bring a cooler. You will buy more wine than you think and shipping across state lines is a headache.
  • If the bride loves a specific varietal, let the driver know. They can route the day around pinot or cab.
