Why King Street
King Street is the main commercial street running through downtown Charleston. It splits into three personalities and your bachelorette plan should use all three.
Lower King (south of Market Street) is the antiques and old-money stretch. Middle King is the boutique-shopping zone where every storefront looks like a Reformation campaign. Upper King (north of Calhoun) is where the bachelorette nightlife actually lives. Most groups stay in a hotel near Upper King and walk south during the day, north at night.
Where to Stay on or Near King Street
Top picks for groups: The Dewberry (mid-luxury, beautiful rooftop, just off King), The Spectator (butler service, smaller groups), or The Vendue if you want art-hotel vibes.
For larger groups (8 to 14), rent a house in Cannonborough-Elliotborough (the neighborhood right off Upper King). You stay walking distance to the bars without paying downtown hotel prices.
Daytime on King Street
Boutique Shopping
Hit the stretch from Calhoun down to Market. Worth a stop: Finicky Filly, Hunter and Collie, and Candy Shop Vintage. Tell the bride to leave her credit card at the hotel or do not, your call.
Lunch Stops
The Darling Oyster Bar at 513 King is the move for a long, day-drinky lunch. Oysters, deviled eggs, and a paloma at noon.
Leon''s Oyster Shop is technically off King but it is worth the four-block walk for the fried chicken and the back patio.
"The Darling for lunch is unmatched. We sat for three hours, the bachelorette server gave the bride a free dessert with sparklers, and we walked right back to King Street shopping." Google Review
Cocktail Hour: First Round
Felix Cocktails et Cuisine
French sipping lounge at 550 King. The lighting alone makes everyone in your group look better. Order martinis, get a tower of fries, and start the night here.
Order this: Felix Martini ($16) and the pommes frites ($12)
Bourbon N'' Bubbles
570 King. Bachelorette-central in Charleston. Champagne wall, bottle service, and a dress code (cocktail attire). They will absolutely seat a group of 10 with a reservation, but try to book at least three weeks out.
Order this: The Bachelorette package or the bottle service
Dinner
Halls Chophouse
The bachelorette dinner that locals will tell you is the cliché but everyone does it anyway because it works. Steaks, live piano on Sundays, and the staff knows how to handle a group with sashes. Reserve four to six weeks out for any Saturday.
Order this: The 22-oz bone-in ribeye for the table to share, the lobster mac as a side
MESU
Mexican-meets-sushi on Upper King. Loud, fun, and group-friendly. The bachelorette move when Halls is booked or when your group wants to stay closer to nightlife after dinner.
Order this: Spicy tuna tostadas, the wagyu tacos, and a round of Mezcal margaritas
FIG
Off King but worth the four-block walk. James Beard winner, smaller plates, and a sommelier who will not let your group order badly. The "we have a wine person in the group" choice.
Late Night
Republic Garden and Lounge
462 King. The closest thing King Street has to an actual nightclub. Bottle service, dancing, dress code enforced at the door. Save this one for night two when the group has hit its stride.
Zach''s Daiquiris
The frozen drinks that everyone Instagrams. Real fruit, real liquor, eight or nine flavors. Great walk-up stop on the way between bars.
Order this: The frozen Painkiller or the bachelorette flight (asks ahead)
The Cocktail Club
Tucked-away cocktail bar at 479 King. Better drinks than half the rest of King Street. Calm enough for a real conversation late in the night.

Planning Tips
- Most Upper King bars enforce a dress code, no athletic wear, no flip-flops
- Pedicabs run up and down King and are honestly the best transport for a group of 6 to 10
- King Street closes to cars on the second Sunday of every month, plan around it or lean into it
- Bourbon N'' Bubbles, Republic, and Halls all need reservations, do this from your laptop, not in the Uber
- Tip the door staff at Republic, the bachelorette will get treated better all night
