Why Charleston for a Bachelor Party
Charleston is one of the most complete bachelor party cities in the South. You get world-class golf 30 minutes away, a waterfront built for group dinners, craft breweries, and a King Street bar strip that starts mellow and gets rowdy fast.
The whole city is compact enough to walk between spots. Bring a group of six to twelve and you will fill three days without repeating yourself.
Day 1: Arrive, Eat, Hit King Street
Afternoon
Land at CHS and check in. Your first stop is Holy City Brewing, which has the largest outdoor space of any brewery in Charleston. Order a flight and let the group decompress before the weekend kicks off.
Walk King Street toward the Market. Stop at The Ordinary for oysters and a round at the raw bar. The converted bank space looks incredible and the seafood tower feeds four people easily at about $85.
Evening
Dinner at Husk on Queen Street. The menu rotates daily around Southern ingredients and the fried chicken is always a strong order. Book a table at least one week out for groups larger than four.
After dinner, move to Republic Garden and Lounge on King Street for the late-night portion. You can book bottle service or just grab spots at the bar. The dance floor gets busy around midnight.
"Republic is the move when you want to actually dance. Get there after 11 and the energy is completely different." -- Reddit, r/Charleston
Day 2: Golf, Distillery, Waterfront Dinner
Morning
Early tee time at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, ranked among the top public courses in the United States. Green fees run $350-$550 depending on season. Book at least two months ahead for a weekend group slot.
If Kiawah is out of budget, Charleston Municipal Golf Course plays well and runs around $35-50 per round on weekdays.
Afternoon
Back in town, book the private tasting at Charleston Distilling Company. The spirits are locally made and the one-hour session includes a walk-through of the production floor. Groups of eight or more should reserve in advance.
Evening
Dinner at Fleet Landing on the waterfront. The shrimp and grits run about $28 and the dock views are the best in the city for a group photo. Request the outdoor dock seating when you book.
Head to The Rooftop at The Vendue after dinner. The 360-degree views of the harbor and historic district are spectacular and the bar keeps things relaxed enough to stay for two or three rounds.
"Fleet Landing is the classic Charleston bachelor dinner spot. Order the crab dip to start and the shrimp and grits for the main." -- Google Review
Day 3: Brunch, Bowling, and a Proper Sendoff
Morning
Sleep in and meet at High Cotton on East Bay Street for brunch. The buttermilk biscuits, eggs Benedict, and Bloody Marys are all excellent. Budget $35-45 per person including drinks.
Afternoon
Head to The Alley on Ann Street, a 16,000 square-foot entertainment venue with eight retro bowling lanes and a 40-foot reclaimed-wood bar. Walk-ins are usually fine on Sunday afternoons but booking ahead online is faster.
If the weather cooperates, book a two-hour harbor cruise through Tiki Tours of Charleston. The BYOB boat tours are a Charleston institution and they hold groups of up to 26 people.
Evening
Last dinner at FIG on Meeting Street for a proper farewell. The menu is seasonal and market-driven. The pasta is consistently excellent and the wine list is one of the best in the city.
