Why Rooftops Are a Bachelorette Move

Nashville built half its tourism around the rooftop. From the Gulch to the SoBro side of Broadway, almost every new hotel that opened in the last five years dropped a rooftop bar on top of it.

For a bachelorette group, rooftops solve a few problems at once. You get the skyline backdrop for the sash photos, you get cocktails that are not $4 well drinks, and you usually get a host who can seat eight to twelve people without panicking.

One thing to know up front: most of the best rooftops require a reservation for groups of six or more, especially on Saturdays. Book before you fly in.

The Best Rooftops

L.A. Jackson

Best for: The arrival drink | Price: $$$ | Where: Thompson Hotel, the Gulch

L.A. Jackson sits on top of the Thompson and gives you a 360 view of the Nashville skyline. The space is industrial-chic with low couches around fire pits, which photographs better than almost any other rooftop in the city.

They actually run a bachelorette package: a large-format cocktail to share, a small-plate spread they call girl dinner, and champagne cocktails for the table. Worth it if you want to skip the menu argument.

Order this: The Disco Punch (large format, serves 4 to 6, around $75)

"Best rooftop in Nashville hands down. The view at sunset is unreal and the staff actually knows how to handle a bachelorette group without getting weird about it." Google Review

White Limozeen

Best for: The Instagram set | Price: $$ | Where: Graduate Hotel, Midtown

White Limozeen at the Graduate is the pink one. It is fully Dolly Parton coded, with pink booths, a glittery Dolly statue, and frozen drinks served in cowboy-boot cups.

This is the most bachelorette-friendly rooftop in the city. It is also the most crowded, so put a reservation in early or get there before 5 p.m.

Order this: Frozen Tennessee Tea ($16) or the Dolly Spritz ($14)

"We did White Limozeen for the bride photos and L.A. Jackson for actual drinks. Perfect combo for a bachelorette." Reddit

Harriet''s Rooftop

Best for: A grown-up first round | Price: $$$ | Where: 1 Hotel Nashville, the Gulch

Harriet''s sits on the 19th floor of 1 Hotel Nashville and is easily the most upscale rooftop in town. Lush plants, soaring ceilings, and a quieter crowd than the Broadway rooftops.

If your group has someone who wants a real martini and a quiet place to talk before the night gets loud, this is the move. The view of the Cumberland River from the south side is the best in the city.

Order this: Espresso martini ($18) or any of the seasonal cocktails

Assembly Food Hall Rooftop

Best for: Indecisive groups | Price: $$ | Where: Fifth + Broadway

The rooftop at Assembly Food Hall has multiple bars, food vendors, and a stage that often has live music. If half your group wants frozen drinks and the other half wants a margarita with food, this fixes the standoff.

It is also the closest rooftop to Broadway, so it works as a starting point before you head down to the honky-tonks.

Order this: Whatever the seasonal frozen is, plus a slice from Slim and Husky''s downstairs

The George Jones Rooftop

Best for: The classic Broadway rooftop | Price: $$ | Where: Lower Broadway

Four floors of country music venue with a massive rooftop on top. The view down Broadway is the one you have seen on every bachelorette Instagram reel.

Energy stays high, the bartenders are fast, and you can see the John Seigenthaler bridge from the patio. Cover charge is sometimes in effect after 8 p.m.

Order this: The "He Stopped Loving Her Today" cocktail ($14)

Play Dance Bar Rooftop Lounge

Best for: Late night and giant cowboy boot photos | Price: $$ | Where: Church Street, near downtown

Play is one of Nashville''s longest-running gay bars and the rooftop is genuinely one of the most fun spots downtown. The giant cowboy boots installation is a known photo op for bachelorette groups.

The crowd is mixed, the music is loud, and the energy is good. Go after dinner, not before.

Bobby Hotel Rooftop Lounge

Best for: A pool day in disguise | Price: $$$ | Where: Bobby Hotel, downtown

Bobby Hotel''s rooftop has a vintage Greyhound bus parked on it, a small pool, and some of the best skyline views downtown. In summer, day passes are sometimes available for non-guests but they sell out, so call ahead.

Order this: Frozen rosé from the bus bar ($16)

Planning Tips

  • Reserve any rooftop for groups of 6 or more at least two weeks ahead, longer for May through October
  • If the bride has a sash on, expect to be photographed by strangers, lean into it
  • Build a rooftop crawl: start at Harriet''s for a real cocktail, hit White Limozeen for photos, end at Play for the late-night energy
  • Most rooftops close earlier than Broadway bars, often 11 p.m. on weekdays. Plan accordingly
  • Heels on rooftops with metal mesh floors are a known issue. Wedges or flats are the call
