Jack Nicklaus rebuilt 18 of his favorite holes from his own designs across the world and dropped them into the Summerlin desert. Every hole feels like a different course, which keeps the round interesting even for players who are mostly there for the beer cart.

The clubhouse handles group outings well and the Strip views from the elevated tees are the photo your group actually posts.

Book it: Three to four weeks ahead. Ask about the group outing rate once you cross 12 players.

TPC Las Vegas

Best for: Groups with a few genuinely good players | Price: Roughly $150 to $260 depending on season and time | Group size: Up to 16

TPC sits in the Summerlin corridor about 20 minutes off the Strip and plays through natural desert canyons and rock outcroppings. It is a tougher walk than Bali Hai and rewards a group that actually keeps score.

Peak winter and spring morning tee times go early here, so this is not the course to leave to the week before.

Book it: Four to six weeks out for a weekend morning. Afternoon rounds run noticeably cheaper.

Rio Secco Golf Club

Best for: Dramatic scenery without the Shadow Creek price tag | Price: Roughly $160 to $275 per player | Group size: Up to 16

Rio Secco runs through the foothills in Henderson, about 25 minutes from the Strip. Three holes on the plateau, three in the canyons, and the rest through the desert floor, so the group gets variety without the resort markup.

This is the pick when half your crew wants photos and the other half wants a course that will not embarrass them.

Book it: Two to three weeks out. Confirm cart and range balls are bundled before you pay.

Angel Park Golf Club

Angel Park has two full 18-hole courses plus a lighted 12-hole par-3 layout, which is the underrated move for a bachelor party. If your group is 16 guys with wildly different handicaps, the short course turns the round into something everyone can actually enjoy.

Tom Fazio built a pine forest and waterfalls in the North Las Vegas desert, and tee times are limited to guests staying at an MGM Resorts property. The green fee includes a caddie and limousine transportation from your hotel.

This is not a group-of-14 play. It is the round the groom talks about for a decade, funded by a few guys who agreed in advance.

Book it: Up to 90 days ahead. You need the MGM room reservation first.

Planning Tips

• Book premium courses like Shadow Creek and Wynn as far as 90 days out. Bali Hai and Angel Park are fine at two to four weeks.
• Take the earliest tee time you can get from May through September. Heat is the single biggest thing that ruins a Vegas round.
• Collect money before you book. Most courses charge the full group to one card and will not refund a no-show.
• Twilight rates cut 20 to 40 percent off the morning price if your group would rather sleep in than save the round.
• Confirm what is bundled. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees vary by course and change the real per-player number by $40 or more.
• Book transport for the off-Strip courses. Rideshare from Summerlin or Henderson back to the Strip on a Saturday afternoon gets expensive fast with four cars.
• Split the group across two tee windows if you are over 16 players. Courses will do it, but only if you ask when you book.
